The Nuclear Option: It may happen now.

It has just been reported by the Associated Press that the government is reporting leaks from the newly installed oil well cap. Retired Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the government's oil response director overseeing the oil gusher disaster, says that there are also seeps coming from the ground sea floor nearby. Allen claims there is seepage 2 miles away but that this is not coming from the well.

But, like everything else in this miserable catastrophe, that's a lie! It's not a "seep" but a damned gusher! In fact, the recent videos from BP's own ROV shows a huge plume of oil and methane shooting up from the sea floor at about the same rate and volume as what we saw from the damaged oil well before it was capped.

Notice how BP keeps the ROV's lights from fully illuminating the gusher. But you can see the plume if you look closely. It's HUGE!

The second video is even more disturbing. It shows bobbles of methane leaking from cracks in the sea floor, caused by the explosion that destroyed the oil well and the Horizon platform. It is a clear sign that BP knows the predicament that they are in... so why have they not revealed these things to the American people?

You know the reason -- MONEY!

BP is supposed to be fined $11,000 for every barrel of oil that the well has leaked since the April 20, 2010 explosion. That is the reason they lied about the volume of oil being leaked in the first few days. Their figure was 1,000 barrels a day -- a far cry from the estimates of 65,000 to 100,000 barrels a day that now seem realistic.

To get a precise account of the oil that has leaked, the measurements could easily have been taken when the well was left wide open just before the recent capping procedure. But, of course, no measurement was taken. Or if it was, it remains BP's secret.

There was yet another opportunity to measure the flow. BP initially explained that they were testing the pressure in the capped well to see if there were any leaks in the well casing. A high build up of pressure was to be a good sign that the casing was intact, allowing the oil to back up in the pipe. But the tests didn't go as planned and the pressure was very low. This was supposed to mean that oil was leaking along the miles of casing under the sea floor and that the procedure would then call for re-opening the well to alleviate the pressure and leakage.

But, of course, that would allow authorities to accurately measure the volume of oil being released -- which would be used to calculate BP's fines. So they quickly changed their plan. The well would now be kept closed so no measurements could be made.

The latest lame excuse is that they plan to attempt a new "top kill" procedure with mud and cement -- the same procedure that failed miserably in June. They will apparently do anything to prevent a measurement of the oil coming from the damaged well -- all to save money!

But now it appears that the damaged well is not the only source of oil leaking in the Gulf. Gushers of oil and methane have been discovered a few miles from the well explosion site, indicating that the sea floor has been fractured and that a disaster of Biblical proportions looms in the near future.

Leaking methane indicates that there is a huge supply of the lethal gas -- what some are calling a bubble or lake of gas -- and that the explosion has now allowed this gas to find its way to the surface through cracks and fissures in the damaged sea floor.

How dangerous is this methane gas? VERY dangerous!

First, the methane is in a form that is called "wet methane," meaning that it is a heavier form that accumulates near the surface of the sea or land. If we have a hurricane that pushed this deadly methane inland, many people will likely die.

Approaching storms could push methane on shore and kill thousands!

In an interview originally posted on, Matt Simons, founder and Chairman of the Board of the Ocean Energy Institute and past Chairman of the National Ocean Industries Association, and adviser to President George W. Bush, made the situation crystal clear:

Interviewer: Are people in danger in these [Gulf] states right now?

Simmons: I believe they are, unfortunately, because of what I am learning daily by scientific people that are starting to talk about the awful effects of this methanol coming out of this oil. All these studies that they're now doing... the autopsy work that they are doing on all these dolphins and birds... Why are they all dying? They have concluded that they are all dying because they have ingested methane.

By matter of US [safety] law, if you're drilling a well in the presence of hydrogen sulphite, then you have to have a gas mask around your neck. Because, if the alarm on the rig goes off, you have something like 20 seconds to put the gas mask on or you'll die... methane is even more toxic. And if this were "dry methane" it would go up in the atmosphere, but this is "wet methane" so it just hangs around the surface. And it's basically one of the most lethal gasses we know about.

Interviewer: How do you see this impacting... if it comes on shore...

Simmons: Well, here's the problem that has been assessed by the research vessels of the NOAA, particularly the Thomas Jefferson. They now believe through sampling -- as opposed to guessing -- that the basement of the Gulf of Mexico at about 4,000 to 4,500 feet under the surface is a giant lake of toxic oil that is sending 120,000 barrels a day coming out of the open well bore.

[NOAA] brought their research vessels out and they discovered these odd layers of black crude on the bottom through their unmanned subs. But BP kept saying "you guys are lying.. there aren't those.. we've investigated that..." But they hadn't. They just plain hadn't.

And if we have a hurricane... one of the things that hurricanes do is they bring up the cold water -- this stuff won't be cold water, it will be poison.

If it were my family I would evacuate now, while you still have time. If we do have a storm and it sends the "gook" in they're going to have to shut down the power stations and people will be trapped in harms way.

Interviewer: You're talking about the possibility of a tremendous loss of life?

Simmons: It could be one of the greatest losses of life that we have had from a non-war disaster.

Interviewer: Is it an overwaction then to evacuate the Gulf states?

Simmons: What I have suggested... is that they ought to get some medical experts that understand methane gas. And say, if the winds blow in then how far in are people in harms way? If it's only seven miles then I'd say have everyone within ten miles of the coast evacuate. I'd always err by 30 percent.

Interviewer: What is the solution?

Simmons: We have to nuke the well bore. Which is putting a small diameter nuclear device down 18,000 feet and setting it off. Through fusion you actually turn the rock into glass and that entombs the well.

Toxic Oil Spill Rains Warned Could Destroy
North America

Posted by

A dire report prepared for President Medvedev by Russia's Ministry of Natural Resources is warning today that the British Petroleum (BP) oil and gas leak in the Gulf of Mexico is about to become the worst environmental catastrophe in all of human history threatening the entire eastern half of the North American continent with "total destruction".

Russian scientists are basing their apocalyptic destruction assessment due to BP's use of millions of gallons of the chemical dispersal agent known as Corexit 9500 which is being pumped directly into the leak of this wellhead over a mile under the Gulf of Mexico waters and designed, this report says, to keep hidden from the American public the full, and tragic, extent of this leak that is now estimated to be over 2.9 million gallons a day.

The dispersal agent Corexit 9500 is a solvent originally developed by Exxon and now manufactured by the Nalco Holding Company of Naperville, Illinois that is four times more toxic than oil (oil is toxic at 11 ppm (parts per million), Corexit 9500 at only 2.61ppm). In a report written by Anita George-Ares and James R. Clark for Exxon Biomedical Sciences, Inc. titled "Acute Aquatic Toxicity of Three Corexit Products: An Overview" Corexit 9500 was found to be one of the most toxic dispersal agents ever developed. Even worse, according to this report, with higher water temperatures, like those now occurring in the Gulf of Mexico, its toxicity grows.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in discovering BP's use of this dangerous dispersal agent ordered BP to stop using it, but BP refused stating that their only alternative to Corexit 9500 was an even more dangerous dispersal agent known as Sea Brat 4.

The main differences between Corexit 9500 and Sea Brat 4 lie in how long these dangerous chemicals take to degrade into their constituent organic compounds, which for Corexit 9500 is 28 days. Sea Brat 4, on the other hand, degrades into an organic chemical called Nonylphenol that is toxic to aquatic life and can persist in the environment for years.

A greater danger involving Corexit 9500, and as outlined by Russian scientists in this report, is that with its 2.61ppm toxicity level, and when combined with the heating Gulf of Mexico waters, its molecules will be able to "phase transition" from their present liquid to a gaseous state allowing them to be absorbed into clouds and allowing their release as "toxic rain" upon all of Eastern North America.

Is the nuke option for real?

Unfortunately, it is. And it would not be the first time this was done.

See paper [pdf] on Soviet use of nukes in this situation.

Back in 1963, a poorly drilled natural gas well in the Soviet Union exploded and caught fire. The result was what was described as a blow torch about 120 meters high that had the sound of 100 jets and was so hot that it was almost impossible to approach. It continued to blow for three years and showed no signs of slowing. The flow was calculted at 12-million cubic centimeters of gas per day! Soviet scientists eventually drilled towards the area of the leak at an angle and inserted a nuclear bomb which detonated and fused the leak. (Images of the above gas leak have been censored and are hard to find.)

While that leak was successfully capped, others, like the one in Turkmenistan, called "The Door in Hell" have not been stopped and continue to burn after almost 40 years [below]. Billions of cubic cenimeters of natural gas have been burned up and countless tons of CO2 have been put in the atmosphere. It was decided that either every possible solution was already tried, and failed, or that other solutions were far too dangerous and might make the situation worse.

The Soviet natural gas well was very different from the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. It was located in the middle of a desert with sparse flora, fauna or human life to deal with the resulting radiation. The BP well, on the other hand, is just 100 miles off the shore of Louisiana and lies right in the midst of the most productive fishing and oceanic ecosystems. Winds routinely blow on shore from the location of the oil leak. Weighing the risks to the environment plus the possibilities of making the catastrophe even worse against a continuation of the oil leak that may do the same damage if left unchecked... is quite a difficult decision to make.

In sci-fi movies the ending is almost always happy. Will this be?

Right now the approach being used to solve this dilema is, at best, lame. Small fishing boats are sent out to scoop up tiny acre size patches of floating crude [above] while, as seen from above, hundreds of square miles have already been sullied with deadly, red paste. Oceanographers tell us that it doesn't take much oil to kill life in the oceans. Since so much of the life cycles in the water depend on oxygenizing at the surface, covering the water with an impenetrable layer rapidly kills organisms that require air. And it doesn't take much oil to do this -- even a thin slick can be deadly.

But the oil does even more damage as it settles on the ocean floor. Shrimp, lobsters and shellfish make their habitat on the ocean bottom. Once the oil get down there it's almost impossible to clean up. This is not only a death sentence for marine organisms but for the entire Gulf coast economy, who rely on fishing and tourism for their survival. One can only imagine that, if a nuclear option was used to seal the oil leak, would anyone feel safe eating fish or shrimp from those same waters? Would anyone want to swim or vacation near there?

If you think these ideas are not seriously being considered -- think again. PRAVDA, CBS News, The Christian Science Monitor and other news sources have been boldly exploring this solution in editorials.

What do YOU think?

Web Bot Program Predicts
Nuke Option

I first heard about the "web bot" some years ago. There was a piece on the news about a man who had developed a computer program that could successfully predict trends and events of the future. His predictions were so accurate that the military and Wall Street were courting him and he was consulting for some of the biggest corporations. [see Web Bot Article on viewzone.]

The Web bot predictions for early 2010 included a "mistake" that would result in a poisonous cloud that would present humanity with an ecologic disaster of Biblical proportions. While the oil spill could be thought of as a "cloud of poison" under the ocean, and it is certainly a "mistake" -- the possibility of a more deadly cloud of radiation is now on the event horizon.

In one of his predictions for 2010, Web bot director, Clif High, is suggesting that the oil will not be stopped effectively and will soon pose such a danger to the entire planetary ecology that the "Nuclear option" will be tried.

In one of his most recent reports (#15) he describes events where, prior to using the nuke, the population of the Southeastern USA fears radiation and begins a diaspora to other areas that are perceived as "safer." The nuke is eventually used and, in these predictions, does what everyone feared. Meanwhile, the resulting earthquakes and crustal shifting that is apparently triggered by the nuclear explosion seals the oil.

But in this scene, although the illness is cured, the patient (Earth and its people) dies. He predicts a catastrophe with over a billion human lives lost.

Since the web-bot predictions have been so accurate, we should be very much afraid.

Be sure to see a summary of the most recent web-bot predictions HERE on viewzone.

I've read where oil has been found coming out of fissures on the ocean floor as far as 6 miles from the well bore. This tells me the oil and gas deposit is like a big nasty zit ready to pop. If it does, at a minimum, we can expect to see all the ships in the area sink due to loss of buoyancy from the vast methane release. More disconcerting is the very real possibility of massive tsunamis triggered by methane explosions.

Read about the Nuclear option in the main stream media this morning. It appears that you have scooped them by at least 3 weeks. Good job on your unique ability to understand and publish the facts on these types of issues.

In a recent edition of The New Scientist entitled: "Gulf oil leak causing upheaval in marine ecology" by Phil McKenna, Phil McKenna writes about the dire findings that Samantha Joye and other researchers have discovered about this horrific event that has befallen our dear earth.

"She said that methane concentrations in a giant underwater plume emanating from the well head are as much as 10,000 times higher than background levels."

I'm not a scientist nor a geologist but I do not believe that the nuclear option is pausible now it's just too late, the additional fissures along the sea floor have weaken the ground structure to the point of collapse. Perhaps if the nuclear option would have been used in the first few days of this disaster there may have been some hope for the Gulf. Now all that we can do is run for the hills, and keep running!

Few seem to realize the total destructive potential of this ecological disaster that has transpired in the Gulf. The release of such massive volumes of Methane has created a dangerously explosive situation which may ultimately annihilate the entire Gulf region of the US, Mexico and the Caribbean islands that border the its southern fringe. When the gigantic Methane plume finally breaks through the Gulf's waters, giant tsunamis will occur and they will be accompanied by deadly clouds of methane gas which will choke the life out of every living creature that is unfortunate enough to cross its path.

Check this link for an interesting video about a methane gas incident in Africa in the 80's:

It’s pitiful that Man's selfish greed will most probably lead to humanity's extinction.

Hey Ed,

Just watched that video on the methane. wow! Time to go for sure!

Got that right. Why don't people know about this? Get out of there now!!!!!!

Many of articles on Viewzone cause me to do research. The information contained in this article. I had already done the research and came to the same conclusions.

However, it was the comment made by "P.V." that intrigued my curiosity. P.V.stated: "Wasn't this one of the last predictions of the Hopi Indians.....and the seas will turn black."

Yes P.V. you are correct it is one of the signs in the Hopi Prophecy. However, it appears the prophecy may be out of sequence. This is documented as the seventh sign, to the end of the fourth world. According to the information, I found it reads like this:

"This is the Seventh Sign: You will hear of the sea turning black, and many living things dying because of it."

Here is one of the links I found concerning this prophecy:

Thank you all for increasing my need to Know

I'm afraid your conclusions here are right on target. I live down here on the coast and we follow all the details, perhaps even more than the rest of the folks in the country. We have been aware of the problems with the well hole decaying and the diminishing prospects of a relief well to solve the leaking oil.

If a thermonuclear device is going to be used, I hope to God that the US Navy is involved and NOT BP!

In either case, lots of folks down here will be moving north pretty fast and furious. Even though some experts say the danger from radiation is small, we have had enough promises that did not work out according to the experts.

I think, if a nuclear device is used, it will be the death of the fishing, shrimping and tourism industry. Does BP have enough money to cover all of that? I think not. This is a tragedy beyond comprehension and one that most people have not yet come to understand because it has not yet impacted their lives. But it will.

If the oil continues to leak or if the nuclear option makes a bigger hole that is impossible to stop, then God help the planet! The oceans are a vital link in the weather of the planet and when that is dead, all land life follows.

Anyway, thanks for telling the story. I hope other people read more things like this and understand what lies ahead for humanity. God help us.

Thanks for the info and excellent piece, who knows how this will end, if they are successful in capping this hole, then we should all seriously shaving our heads and donating the hair to the cause of oil cleanup. Check this article out from Hair and mushrooms create a recipe for cleaning up oily beaches Hair and mushrooms create a recipe for cleaning up oily beaches best of luck to us all...

Not so bad idea if detonation is manual. By clicking on BP capitalist membership meeting. Although I agree that not nuclear is needed. Just only use their 'Members' tied to a concrete cap ... I'm sure if government offers this wonderful opportunity for company redemption... Oh! Surpise! a new and effective plug will appear!

Toni M.P.

Thanks for a great article Gary. It is a terrible mess, to be sure, and containment should be a top priority. It makes one wonder whether drilling at such depths should be allowed. Also , industry self-regulation is not adequate. Although the exact causes of this leak are still being investigated, it does looks like this was an accident waiting to happen. The Washington Post reports that A House energy panel investigation found that the blowout preventer that failed had a dead battery in its control pod, leaks in its hydraulic system, a "useless" test version of a key component and a cutting tool that wasn't strong enough to shear through steel joints in the well pipe and stop the flow of oil. Furthermore, the Cameron manufactured BOP had apparently been modified -- the equipment did not match the schematic supplied by Transocean, who owned Deepwater Horizon. These modifications may have contributed to the failure of the BOP to function properly when it was triggered. As early as 2001 Transocean (RIG on stock exchange) had documents that indicated there were at least 206 potential problems with the blow out preventer! A class action suite is currently being put together on behalf of RIG investors against the company for failure to disclose these risks in investment reports.

Whether BP knew these risks is not known, but I believe that there had been warnings about the danger of working at such depths in an area where the hydrocarbon deposits were at such tremendous pressures. Nobody wants an oil well near them, in shallow water, but deep ocean drilling is clearly a dangerous exercise that will require much better supervision if it is to continue. And the alternatives -- more foreign oil or a less energy dependent lifestyle for Americans also have significatnt costs. If there were less demand, oil companies would not be motivated to pursue such dangerous and expensive drilling. Even if this leak is stopped, serious problems remain for all of us and for the Earth.

I think the idea is totally crazy but, as you say, what if every other idea is eventually exhausted? What a terrible mess. I pray that we have the smart people in high places to deal with this or else we are certainly not good stewards of the planet. What a terrible mess.

Maybe this is how nature and the planet will get rid of us humans so it can heal from all the harm we have done to it. We will either be poisoned by nukes or we will suffer from dead oceans. And god knows how a dead ocean might impact every other ecosystem on the planet.

Gary you have been very busy, thank you. With Susans comments I will add the name Maurice there is a conspiracy....have a good day

Mike S.

Howard Hughes -- where are you when we need you?

Won't the pipe become clogged with frozen methane the same way the containment tower did? I don't see anything in this new plan that sucks the oil and methane up through a pipe that addressed this. And what will they do on the ocean surface with all the methane they are sucking up? Will this be vented or burned off somehow? What are the environmental impacts of that? Why is no one asking these questions?

Wasn't this one of the last predictions of the Hopi Indians.....and the seas will turn black.

I just received information yesterday, June 20th, 2010, from a man that has worked offshore in the Gulf of Mexico for the past 15 years and he said the company he works for "Diamond Offshore" is moving out of the Gulf. He said they are in the process of moving their rigs to Africa, as we speak. To give you some perspective of how big this move is, it is going to involve 150,000 workers. I'm not sure if they are going to keep their jobs once they get relocated to Africa, I suppose so if they want to move half way around the world. But they know the real magnitude of what is going on and are getting as far away from there as they can.

Hello, To all you silly haoles. I'd like to respond to the article on nuke option by Gary Vey. There's evidence the gulf waters are "radioactive". So-called experts will tell you-it's from a natural source. If you believe that...I have some beach front property I'd like to sell you. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. A nuclear device was used-that caused this problem in the first place! Used a second one and you can kiss your world goodbye.
